Old Usenet Maps
There are many several historical maps
available on the Internet that document the early Usenet structure.
The early Usenet ran across a well defined network
of sites, and quickly expanded from the U.S. to Canada, Europe, and beyond.
In order to keep track of the network structure, creatively structured
text-based maps were distributed on the Usenet starting in 1981. An
example of an early map showing the schematic of Usenet sites and inter-connections
from June, 1981, is provided below.
