Listserv Use - Finding Lists

All Listserv mailing lists are indexed in a catalog with a searchable interface at the CataList site, which is the best place to search for a Listserv mailing list of interest to you.

The administration address for a Listserv mailing list server usually is usually "listserv" at the site, as in:

listserv@sitename

The following commands will return a report of other Listserv lists supported on a given server, returning one-line descriptions or detailed descriptions respectively:

lists

lists detailed

You can also ask for information on all Listserv list servers across the Internet. Be careful with this command -- it will return a very large email:

lists global

To narrow down your search, you can ask for all lists on all servers whose name or description contains a given keyword:

lists global gardening
